Traditions
Traditions play an important role in building community and shared identity at Central Christian School. These moments create lasting memories, strengthen relationships, and celebrate student growth and achievement.
Advance
During the first week of school, high school students engage in several days of intentional community building and development at Advance. High School students play games, participate in team-building activities with each other and faculty, and worship together. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about our theme for the year, reconnect with each other and welcome new students into our community.
Elevate
At the end of the first month of school, middle school students spend a day building community through fun activities and games as well as learning about the unique aspects of our Christian Learning Community and the important role they play in it.
Spirit Week
Spirit Week is a lively tradition at Central Christian School that celebrates school pride, creativity, and community. Throughout the week, students participate in themed dress-up days, friendly competitions, and special activities that bring energy and excitement to campus.
The week also includes a dedicated chapel that centers the celebration on gratitude and shared values. Spirit Week concludes with a high school community event, giving students an opportunity to come together, strengthen relationships, and celebrate what it means to be part of the CCS community. This tradition fosters connection, joy, and a strong sense of belonging across the school.
Formal
The High School Formal is a meaningful tradition at Central Christian School that brings students together for an evening of celebration, creativity, and community. This event is intentionally student-led, giving students the opportunity to plan and execute a formal experience from start to finish.
Students collaborate to book a venue, develop a theme, design and create decorations, and coordinate the details that bring the evening to life. On the night of the formal, students dress up, enjoy time with friends, and celebrate the relationships they have built throughout the school year.
Beyond the fun, the High School Formal helps students practice leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and thoughtful decision-making. This tradition reflects our commitment to providing experiences that foster maturity, confidence, and community while creating lasting memories during the high school years.
Athletic Banquet is a celebration of high school athletics that the entire high school community is invited to attend. This special evening includes a catered dinner, speeches, and awards honoring student athletes for their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the season. The Athletic Banquet reflects our commitment to celebrating excellence, gratitude, and community across all areas of student life.
Junior/Senior Chapel
Junior/Senior Chapel is a meaningful tradition at Central Christian School that honors student leadership and marks an important transition within the high school community. During this chapel, juniors reflect on the leadership, joy, and impact the senior class has brought to CCS, sharing stories and memories that highlight the relationships built over time.
As part of the celebration, juniors present seniors with personalized gifts that commemorate shared experiences and meaningful moments from their years together. The outgoing student body president then formally charges the high school students by challenging them to step into the year ahead with integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to serve the CCS community well.
The chapel concludes with a symbolic passing of leadership, as seniors “knight” the juniors, entrusting them with the responsibility to lead the school in the coming year. This tradition reinforces the values of gratitude, service, and leadership, reminding students that influence at CCS is rooted in humility, encouragement, and care for others.
Senior Celebrations
Senior Sunrise
Senior Sunrise is a meaningful tradition at Central Christian School that invites seniors to begin their final year grounded in prayer, reflection, and community. Led by our campus chaplain, this gathering brings together seniors and their parents to pray for the year ahead and for the future God has prepared for each student.
As the sun rises, seniors share hot chocolate and doughnuts while taking time to write letters to their future selves, reflecting on their hopes, goals, and the journey that has shaped them. Senior Sunrise creates a quiet and powerful moment of connection, reminding students that they are supported, prayed for, and encouraged as they step into their final year and beyond.
Senior Trip
The Senior Trip is a special tradition that marks the culmination of the high school experience at Central Christian School. Seniors complete their classes a week earlier than the rest of the student body, setting aside this time to travel together and celebrate their journey as a class.
Each year, the destination is chosen based on student interests, creating a shared experience that reflects the unique personality of the graduating class. During the trip, students enjoy time together, strengthen friendships, and reflect on the years they have spent learning and growing as a community.
The Senior Trip provides a meaningful opportunity for connection and celebration before graduation, reinforcing the relationships, memories, and sense of belonging that define the CCS high school experience.
Senior Breakfast
Senior Breakfast is a cherished tradition at Central Christian School that marks the final days of the high school journey in a meaningful and relational way. Before graduation practice, seniors gather with their teachers and school administrators for breakfast at the Original Pancake House, sharing conversation, laughter, and reflection.
This simple but significant moment creates space to celebrate accomplishments, strengthen relationships, and recognize the growth students have experienced throughout their years at CCS. Senior Breakfast reflects the close-knit community of Central Christian School, where students are known, supported, and celebrated as they prepare to step into the next chapter of their lives.
