Faith Formation

Faith formation is woven into every aspect of student life at Central Christian School. Students are guided to grow in their understanding of God, develop personal spiritual disciplines, and learn how to live out their faith in everyday decisions and relationships.

Through chapel, classroom integration, mentorship, service opportunities, and shared experiences, students are encouraged to pursue the mind of Christ, walk in love and courage, and see themselves as part of God’s greater story. Our goal is not only that students know what they believe, but that they are equipped to live out their faith with wisdom, humility, and purpose.

Teaching for Transformation

At Central Christian School, spiritual formation through academic excellence is at the heart of everything we do. We believe education is more than the transfer of knowledge—it is the shaping of hearts and minds for God’s purposes. Our curriculum reflects the conviction that the classroom teacher is the living curriculum—modeling Christ-centered learning while implementing best practices, effective instructional strategies, rigorous academic standards, and a distinctly biblical worldview across all subject areas.

Through the framework of Teaching for Transformation (TfT), we intentionally invite, nurture, and empower students to understand their unique role in God’s Story and to live it out with purpose. TfT provides a shared, school-wide framework and language that equips teachers to present academic content from a biblical perspective—one that seeks not only intellectual growth, but lasting heart transformation.

An integral part of TfT is the FLEx (Formational Learning Experiences) that our students experience. FLEx offers purposeful opportunities for students to live out what they are learning in meaningful ways. Through FLEx experiences, students apply academic knowledge to real-world needs—serving real people and addressing real problems within and beyond our community. These experiences may take place inside or outside the classroom and combine kingdom impact with academic rigor, deepening both mastery of content and spiritual growth.

Teaching for Transformation is truly shaping and transforming the hearts and minds of both teachers and students at Central Christian School. We are grateful to witness how God is at work through this Christ-centered approach to learning.

Chapel

Each Friday, students gather by school to worship and learn more about God’s word, his world, and their place in it.  Chapels may feature student worship teams, speakers from local churches, classroom-led drama and songs, personal testimonies, service projects, and student or faculty-led prayer.

Kindergarten – 2nd grade students gather for worship at 8:05 a.m., 3rd – 5th grade at 8:40 a.m., middle school at 11:00 a.m., and high school at 11:45 a.m.

Chaplain

In his role as CCS chaplain, Jeff Whitney (aka C.J.) partners with CCS staff and parents to guide, teach, and mentor students in their faith. You’ll find him leading chapels, meeting with students one-on-one and in small groups (including Lunch with C.J. on Wednesdays), partnering with classroom teachers, and helping students develop their own personal relationships with Jesus.
