Middle School Performing Arts

In middle school, students are given an introduction into higher-level musical and theatrical opportunities through electives and the annual musical. In electives, students can choose from a variety of classes to explore their interests: vocal ensemble, worship band, music appreciation, ministry team, and drama. Each semester, performing arts electives showcase their work in a free concert sharing the songs and skits on the stage! Middle school students also are invited to audition for the Spring musical where they experience community theater and a Broadway show!

High School Performing Arts

In high school, students are given increased opportunities to grow in their music and theater skills through electives, plays, and the annual musical. In electives, students can choose from a variety of classes to explore their interests: vocal ensemble, worship band, and drama. Opportunities for larger-scale productions are offered to high school students, including a play during the Fall semester and principal parts in the Spring Broadway musical! Past shows have included Seussical, Frozen JR, Beauty and the Beast, and The Music Man. The heart of performing arts at Central Christian is to provide students with an excellent arts education that glorifies God and brings beauty, truth, and blessing to the community!

Artist in Residence

Artist in Residence James Knox directs choir opportunities for both middle and high school students.  He shares that his "goal is to provide an environment where CCS students feel inspired to ignite their creative side and expose them to the many facets of the fine arts. Students will be learning and demonstrating the fundamentals in singing through music literacy, vocal technique, music vocabulary, aural skills, sight-reading/ sight-singing. Performances are also a big part of choir, and it gives them an opportunity to share what they have learned throughout the year with their family, school and the community. My hope is to provide each student with the best possible musical experience while fostering God’s love through singing."

Visual Arts

Visual arts at Central Christian School provide students with meaningful opportunities to develop creativity, technical skill, and personal expression within an academically excellent, biblically grounded environment. From middle school exploration to high school specialization, students engage in sequenced electives that encourage creative thinking, craftsmanship, and purposeful work.

Middle School Visual Arts

In middle school, visual arts electives invite students to explore a wide range of techniques and styles while building strong foundational skills. Courses such as Fundamentals of Art, Drawing Skills 1 and 2, Zentangles, Op Art and Doodles, Cartooning, Handcrafts, Crafting Through the Seasons, and Paper Sculpture introduce students to visual problem-solving, design principles, and creative expression.

These electives emphasize skill development, experimentation, and confidence-building in a supportive environment. Students learn to approach creative challenges with curiosity and perseverance while discovering interests and abilities that can be developed further in high school.

High School Visual Arts

High school visual arts electives offer progressive coursework that allows students to deepen technical skill, refine artistic voice, and pursue creative excellence. Courses such as Intro to Watercolor and Watercolor 2, Intro to Paper Crafting and Paper Crafting 2, Intro to Jewelry Making and Jewelry Making 2, and Intro to Scrapbooking and Advanced Scrapbooking and Card Making provide structured opportunities for growth through increasing levels of complexity and independence.

As students advance, they develop discipline, design thinking, and craftsmanship while learning to plan, execute, and refine their work. These skills support both artistic growth and academic success, encouraging students to approach creative work with intention, excellence, and responsibility.

Art with Purpose

Across all grade levels, visual arts at Central Christian School are rooted in the belief that creativity is a gift from God. Students are encouraged to use their artistic abilities to communicate ideas thoughtfully, reflect beauty and meaning, and contribute to their community. Through intentional instruction and hands-on creation, visual arts play an important role in shaping confident, capable, and creative students who pursue excellence with purpose.
